Hurricane Harvey
The summer of 2017 was a tough one for Houstonians. Hurricane Harvey brought its dread to Southeastern Texas for what seemed like weeks. Homes were devastated, infrastructure suffered, but the community grew stronger together.
As the outward voice of the Astros, this provided some challenges. It was a mix of crisis management, community outreach, and a beacon of light for folks who were struggling.
We took an extremely proactive approach — in coordination with our executives, we released statements, updates, and feelings of hope from everything ranging from the condition of our stadium to where we’d be playing our next game (our home series was moved to Tampa Bay). Upon returning home, players were in the community. I highlighted our outreach efforts as we did our part to heal a community.
