Hi.

Sports professional. Continuously seeking the next adventure, the next big thing, and the next cup of coffee.

Trout’s 300

Trout’s 300

Growing up a mere five miles from Angel Stadium, I used to worship the likes of JT Snow, Troy Glaus, Garret Anderson, Jim Edmonds, and, of course, Tim Salmon. ‘King Fish’ was a slugger who spent his entire 14-year career with the Halos and retired as their all-time home run leader at 299. Go figure that just a few years after he hung up his cleats, another fish-monikered Angels player made his debut - Mike Trout.

During the 2020 season, just nine years after his first game with the Angels, Trout was approaching King Fish’s all-time home run record. Given my wordy, rambling preamble, I knew and felt the significance of this fast-approaching moment. In anticipation of this milestone, we prepared with graphics and a storytelling-type of video to celebrate. I was responsible for the initial video edit while my team put in the finishing touches. Enlisting Tim Salmon himself, we prepped the whole video beforehand, save for a clip of the actual 300th home run. After it was hit, our videographers (shooting in the stands due to COVID) rushed back to drop clips and the final video was exported within minutes.

This was a special project for me and culminated in my video being displayed on the Jumbotron (with Trout watching!) between a doubleheader. It’s one thing to see your work on social — it’s entirely different to see it in a stadium, even if it was completely empty.
